Don’t Judge Me!

I saw this on a Facebook post recently by a servant of the LORD:

“One day I was flipping the channels on my TV and stopped at a concert by Marylyn Manson. I was horrified and cheekily said to GOD: “What do You think about this guy?” God replied rather curtly: “I died for him”. End of conversation! I learned a great lesson that day. ‘If GOD did not send His Son to condemn the world, it’s a fair bet he doesn’t need you and I to do it either’ – RG
John 3:17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. (NIV)

It would be too long to fully comment on this here, so just sharing some brief thoughts.

Firstly, what a powerful reminder that Christ died for us all – and to be a witness to the unsaved! Even Marilyn Manson. Jesus died for him too.  Yet, beloved, we must remember – The ‘world’ (unbelievers) and the ekklesia (the Church) are not the same thing – and are not dealt with in the same way, biblically.

Much (not all) of the Body of Christ have got to be reminded that we are to judge on the INSIDE of the Body – righteously, according to the Word of God, with humility and love as our only motivation.

As it is written:

“For what have I to do with judging those also who are outside? Do you not judge those who are inside?”

1 Corinthians 5:12 (read the whole chapter for full context).

On another different (but, related note): For about six weeks (maybe longer) I have seen a video clip on my newsfeed from “Rant Nation” about a believer having a rant about how judged he felt. The short of it, is that a woman (also a believer) said horrible things to him about his tattoos. She didn’t like it. He didn’t like her judging him, so he judged her for judging him and told us all about it. Nutshell version.
The title was “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover”.

The last time I saw this on my newsfeed, it had over 94 MILLION views.
Let me say that again, 94 million people watched the rant. It’s probably more now.

Now, hear me, I felt for this guy. Truly. I have been judged for various things and even now, whilst some of you are reading this, you will be judging me. I know the sting only too well. I could write a book about it.
But what this video clip also showed me, is the state of the Church overall.

Try and get just 500 believers to watch a powerful message, word, teaching etc and you will have been very blessed to get that many! This guy has a rant and we are ‘all in’, because it’s a message we like.  We take offense very quickly, we often do not receive any form of biblical reproof, warning, correction because perhaps our defenses and pride sets in and we use blanket terms like “judge not”.

One day we will ALL stand before THE JUDGE of judges and give an account, so when we feel judged, let’s remember that. That knowing makes me have holy fear.
And maybe in all that, God is saying to us:

“I died for you.
Don’t take it lightly.
Stop being so offended.
Keep on walking in love.
Let it draw you closer to Me and grow up in Christ, My beloved child.”
